KSrelief Provides $20m to Assist UN’s Humanitarian Operation in Yemen

SANAA: The UN World Food Programme has welcomed 20 million US dollars aid from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) to help meet the immediate food requirements of the most vulnerable people in Yemen. The World Food Program said that the KSrelief program will enable them to save more lives in the country.

The WFP will provide food to 525,849 people for up to 3 months in Yemen. It added that some portion of the aid will be utilized to enhance the livelihoods of affected communities and families. Ahmed Ali Al-Baiz, KSrelief’s official said that Saudi Arabia wants to address the urgent need in Yemen to save and secure lives in the country.

It may be recalled that climate change and conflict affect millions of people, particularly in Yemen. Richard Ragan, the World Food Program’s Yemen representative said that KSrelief’s aid has helped a lot to prevent the impact of famine in the country. 

He added that they see the desperation to get food on people’s faces, and this aid arrives at a very critical time for the neediest people in Yemen.

The recent contribution brings the total aid from Riyadh to the World Food Program’s response in Yemen to more than 1.86 billion US dollars.
