TEL AVIV: Israeli opposition leader Yair Golan has strongly criticized Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s government, calling it a “zero government” in the wake of a ballistic missile attack from Yemen that struck near Ben Gurion International Airport in Tel Aviv early Sunday morning.
The attack resulted in injuries to at least nine people and highlighted ongoing security and governance challenges facing the country.
In a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), Golan, who leads the Labor Party, condemned the Netanyahu administration for its handling of national security and internal affairs. He characterized the government’s approach as leading Israel into an “endless war,” accusing it of failing to resolve conflicts effectively and instead exacerbating the situation.
Golan urged Israelis to engage in daily protests to exert pressure on the government, asserting that “only continuous popular pressure will bring down this government.”
The missile attack, which targeted the Tel Aviv area, caused significant disruption and damage. Debris from interceptor missiles fell on a train station near Modi’in in central Israel, leading to property damage and creating hazardous conditions.

Additionally, a fire broke out in Kfar Daniel due to scattered debris, further complicating the response efforts. Emergency services were mobilized to address the aftermath of the attack and assist those affected.
The Yesh Atid Party, led by opposition leader Yair Lapid, also joined the chorus of criticism against the Netanyahu administration. The party described the government as a “government of national disasters” and called for its resignation.
In response to the attack and the growing criticism, Netanyahu’s office has not yet issued a detailed statement. However, the government has historically maintained that it is committed to protecting Israeli citizens and responding to security threats decisively.
