WASHINGTON, USA: The U.S. Naval Forces Central Command (NAVCENT) announced on Sunday the successful rescue of the crew from the Liberian-flagged, Greek-owned bulk carrier M/V Tutor, which was attacked by Yemen’s Houthis on June 12 in the Red Sea.

Sailors from the Dwight D. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group airlifted the crew on Saturday, although one civilian sailor remains missing.

The attack, near the Yemeni port of Hodeidah, caused severe flooding and damage to the ship’s engine room, leaving the Tutor unable to maneuver. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) confirmed the crew’s evacuation on Saturday and noted that the vessel was adrift in the Red Sea.

The Houthis claimed responsibility for the attack, citing their support for Palestinians and targeting ships bound for Israel.
