Grounds Up Secure Final Spots in Women’s Premier League

MULTAN: The Grounds Up Cricket Academy secured their spot in the final of the inaugural Women’s Premier League after clinching their second consecutive victory in the tournament on Saturday evening.

The opening fixture of the league’s second day saw Royal Orchard Multan facing off against Lahore International Cricket Academy (LICA), with Royal Orchard emerging victorious by a commanding margin of 237 runs.

Batting first, Royal Orchard Multan posted a formidable total of 264 runs for the loss of just two wickets. A standout partnership of 171 runs between Noreen Yaqoob and Alina Masood proved pivotal in setting up the imposing target for LICA.

Noreen Yaqoob amassed 114 runs, while Alina Masood contributed 88 runs to the team’s total.

In response, LICA faltered, managing only 27 runs in their innings, handing Royal Orchard a resounding victory by 237 runs. Noreen Yaqoob’s stellar century earned her the Player of the Match accolade.

In the day’s second match, the Grounds Up Academy booked their place in the final by defeating Tareen Cricket Academy by nine wickets.

Tareen Cricket Academy had set a target of 93 runs in their allotted 20 overs, but Grounds Up chased down the target with ease, losing just one wicket in the process.

Gull Uswa of the Grounds Up team was named player of the match for her impressive bowling performance, claiming three wickets for just 12 runs in her four-over spell.
