FIA Registers Cases against PIA Workers for Fake Degrees

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has registered cases against 113 employees of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) for reportedly possessing fake degrees.

According to the details, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has started an investigation against 113 PIA employees by lodging a First Information Report (FIR) against them. Out of 113 PIA workers, 18 are females.

As per the details, Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has identified a total of 457 government employees over suspicions of having fake degrees. Out of the total, 113 employees are of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from Lahore.

Fake degree holders in PIA serve as supervisors and assistants. It has been reported that top officials from Pakistan International Airline (PIA)’s recruitment board are involved in the scam. Per the Auditor General of Pakistan (AGP), a special audit was conducted on Pakistan International Airlines in accordance with the Supreme Court’s order regarding fake degrees.

In another development, Pakistan International Airlines recorded a massive loss of Rs. 67.39 billion from January 2022 to September 2022, an increase of 57.8 percent compared to an earlier loss of Rs. 42.71 billion from January 2021 to September 2021, as per the filing at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX).
