ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi emphasized the significant role of mosques and pulpits in disease prevention during a meeting on Friday.
The president, presiding a meeting regarding the mosques’ importance in raising awareness about health issues, acknowledged the vital contribution of religious scholars and Imams in curbing the spread of the coronavirus.
Caretaker Federal Health Minister Dr. Nadeem Jan, Caretaker Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Aneeq Ahmed, provincial representatives, and senior officials were present at the meeting. President Alvi underscored the potential for community participation in alleviating the burden of diseases on the health system.
The meeting concluded with the decision to draft a policy outlining the mosques’ role in promoting public health within two weeks. The health minister commended President Alvi and the first lady for their efforts in creating awareness about certain diseases.
Provincial representatives provided updates on the measures implemented in their respective provinces to safeguard public health.
