CAIRO: Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi received a telephone call from Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian on Tuesday during which the latter expressed his willingness to improve ties with the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) nations.
Presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy said President el-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s full support for the negotiation track, highlighting Cairo’s diplomatic efforts to facilitate dialogue and help reach a comprehensive agreement to reduce tensions and restore regional stability.
He also referred to his recent participation in a joint call with US President Donald Trump and several Arab leaders, underlining Egypt’s consistent stance in favour of peaceful resolutions and its rejection of any aggression against Gulf states or threats to their sovereignty.

President Pezeshkian expressed appreciation for the efforts of Egypt and other regional actors in bridging gaps between Iran and the United States.
He reiterated Iran’s commitment to strengthening relations with Arab countries, particularly members of the Gulf Cooperation Council.
President el-Sisi reiterated Egypt’s position based on international law, respect for sovereignty, and the peaceful settlement of disputes.
The two leaders also exchanged greetings on the occasion of Eid al-Adha, extending wishes of peace, prosperity, and stability to Arab and Islamic nations.
The phone call comes at a time of heightened regional tensions following recent US military strikes on Iran. The developments have raised concerns about escalation, even as diplomatic channels remain active and negotiations between Washington and Tehran continue in parallel.
