ISLAMABAD: Pakistan wicketkeeper-batsman Mohammad Rizwan on Wednesday rubbished the rumours of differences within the national team, saying: “We are united under [Pakistan] flag”.
He shared a post on social media platform X, with the lyrics of a patriotic song and a group photo of the national team players.
The post comes after rumours that Pakistan captain Babar Azam and pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi had a heated exchange in the dressing room after the loss to Sri Lanka in Super 4 match of Asia Cup 2023 in Colombo last week.
The reports further sparked rumours of a change of captaincy ahead of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023.
Mohammad Rizwan wrote, “Is Parcham k saaye talay, Hum aik hain. Hum aik hain. Saanjhi apni khushyaan, Aur gham aik hain Hum aik hain,” quashing rumours of differences within the team.
Shaheen Afridi’s Post
Earlier, Shaheen Shah Afridi put the rumours of rift to rest with a one-word post on a social media post. He shared a photo of himself with skipper Babar Azam and captioned it as “family” with a heart emoji.
The reaction from the national players proves the reports of a rift among the players are just rumours, which could be an attempt to shake the morale of the team ahead of the mega event, which is set to begin on 5 October.
