Power-Hungry Politicians Use Youth For Their Partisan Agenda: PM

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that some power-hungry politicians were misleading youth and use them for their “partisan agenga”.

In a tweet on Friday, the prime minister said: “Nations derive their strength from the youth who power their journey & animate their future. This in turn requires investment in their development. Some power-hungry politicians have had no qualms about making them prey for their partisan agenda, which is unfortunate.”

The prime minister has made the tweet regarding the Youth Development Initiatives he inaugurated on Thursday to enhance the skills of students across the country.

The premier further said that: “Building on the pro-youth work we did in Punjab, the government launched various initiatives yesterday that aim to empower & facilitate our youth to become entrepreneurs. This is merely the beginning. A lot more will be rolled out in the weeks and months to come.”

Addressing the inaugural ceremony in Islamabad on Thursday evening, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that youth make up a major chunk of the country’s population and they will have to further expand these initiatives to equip young minds with modern education and skills. 

The prime minister said that Pakistan’s progress and survival lie in the development of the country’s youth. He said that his government has initiated several programmes, including the Punjab Education Endowment Fund, the Punjab Skill Development Programme, and free laptop scheme.

These initiatives include 2,000 internships for young engineers, 20 under-developed districts transformation programme, 250 mini sports complexes initiative, the Pakistan innovation fund, and the 75 national top talent scholarships programme
