LAHORE: Pakistan has made an addition to their Men’s ODI Asia Cup 2023 squad with the inclusion of left-handed batter Saud Shakeel. Meanwhile, right-handed batter Tayyab Tahir will continue to accompany the team as a traveling reserve.
Shakeel, who initially wasn’t among the 17-member squad, was brought in as the 18th member for the ODI squad during the Afghanistan bilateral series. On the other hand, Tahir, who was initially included in the squad, did not get the opportunity to play in any of the three matches during the ODI series against Afghanistan.
Pakistan will play its opening game against Nepal on August 30 in Multan. The team will arrive in Multan on August 27 with Babar Azam, Imam ul Haq and Naseem Shah joining up with the group on Monday evening.

Babar Azam (c), Abdullah Shafique, Fakhar Zaman, Shadab Khan (vice-captain), Imam-ul-Haq, Iftikhar Ahmed, Salman Ali Agha Mohammad Rizwan, Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, Mohammad Haris, Faheem Ashraf, Haris Rauf, Naseem Shah, Mohammad Wasim Jnr, Shaheen Afridi, Saud Shakeel, and Tayyab Tahir as travelling reserve player.
The team, led by Babar Azam, is scheduled to arrive in Multan on Sunday, August 27th. The players will enjoy a day of rest before they commence their training sessions. Special consideration has been given to players who participated in the Lankan Premier League. Notably, Babar Azam, Imam-ul-Haq, and Naseem Shah will travel to Lahore on Sunday, rejoining the team on Monday evening.
The players are set to engage in training at the Multan Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, August 29th, from 1630 to 1930. Ahead of the training session, Captain Babar Azam will address the media in a pre-series press conference.
