NEW YORK:  Taylor Swift has been crowned the world’s richest female musician, overtaking Rihanna at the top of the global wealth rankings, according to the latest estimates published by Forbes.

Forbes estimates Swift’s net worth at $1.6 billion, compared with Rihanna’s $1.4 billion, marking a significant milestone achieved largely through Swift’s music career rather than business ventures outside the industry.

Forbes reported that up to $600 million of Swift’s wealth comes from music royalties and touring, while her music catalog is valued at approximately $600 million.

She also owns five properties across the United States with a combined estimated value of $125 million.

The update follows Forbes naming Swift a billionaire in October 2023, a status she attained through the commercial success of her Eras Tour and her ownership of her masters.

Launched in March 2023, the Eras Tour has become the highest-grossing tour in history, earning more than $1 billion worldwide.

Rolling Stone reported that by December 2023, Swift had sold about 4.3 million tickets, with an average ticket price of $238.

“We have toured the entire world. We have had so many adventures. It has been the most exciting, powerful, electrifying, intense, most challenging thing I’ve ever done in my entire life. I want to thank every single one of you for being a part of the most thrilling chapter of my entire life to date,” Tylor thanked her team with heartfelt note.

Since 2021, Swift has been re-recording her first five albums to regain control of her music after Scooter Braun sold her original masters for more than $200 million.

Her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 and remained there for 15 weeks following its release in April 2024, selling more than 2.4 million copies in the first half of the year.
