ISLAMABAD: Eighteen counter-terrorism officials showed exceptional bravery in securing Pakistan against militants who were hell-bent in wreaking havoc.
Independence Day is celebrated in Aiwan-e-Sadr and these distinguished officers will form the list of 304 personalities who bring laurels for Pakistan.
The distinguished category of gallantry has 18 braves with 13 sacrificing their lives in protecting Pakistan against militants. The remaining five who survived had the son of the soil named Tariq Mehmood serving as Joint Director in the Intelligence Bureau.
The details due to sensitivity cannot be divulged but he was the man who led from the front and carried out many operations in Pakistan resulting in the successful capture of militants and suicide bombers.
The life-threatening skirmishes resulted in many of his colleagues breathing their last protecting Pakistan and are now honoured posthumously by the President of Pakistan Arif Alvi.
Tariq Mehmood holds a special place in the ranks of intelligence operatives as his meticulous planning and execution earned him accolades in all operations.
He is one the distinguished Pakistani and real hero behind the scene combating and foreseeing threats before it happens.
He will be conferred with the distinguished medal during the investiture ceremony to be held on March 23, 2024.
