ADEN: The Saudi Masam Project removed 5,287 landmines from across Yemen during the first week of August as part of its ongoing humanitarian demining campaign.
The project, funded by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), dismantled 69 anti-tank mines, 24 anti-personnel mines, 5,151 unexploded ordnance items, and 43 explosive devices, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
The total number of mines and explosive remnants cleared since the launch of the Masam Project has now reached 583,513.

Mines have been indiscriminately planted across various parts of Yemen, posing a serious threat to civilians, particularly children, women, and older people, while spreading fear and insecurity among local communities.
Through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), Saudi Arabia continues its efforts to clear Yemeni territory of mines through the Masam Project.
The initiative aims to protect civilians, prevent further casualties, and help create safer conditions for the Yemeni people to live with greater security and dignity.
