ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, will pay an official visit to China from June 30 to July 1 at the invitation of Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, China’s Foreign Ministry announced on Monday.

The visit comes at a time of growing strategic cooperation between Beijing and Riyadh and is expected to focus on bilateral ties, regional security, energy cooperation, trade, investment, and coordination on major international issues.

During the two-day visit, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal is expected to hold extensive talks with Wang Yi and other senior Chinese officials.

The discussions are likely to cover developments in the Middle East, including the situations in Gaza and the Gulf region, as well as efforts to promote regional stability and peaceful conflict resolution.

Economic cooperation under the framework of the China-Saudi Comprehensive Strategic Partnership is also expected to feature prominently.

China has become Saudi Arabia’s largest trading partner and remains one of the Kingdom’s biggest purchasers of crude oil.

In recent years, the two countries have expanded cooperation in renewable energy, infrastructure, technology, digital economy, artificial intelligence, and investment, aligning Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 with China’s Belt and Road Initiative.

The visit also reflects continued high-level diplomatic engagement between the two nations following a series of exchanges over the past few years.

Beijing has increasingly played an active diplomatic role in the Middle East, while Riyadh has sought to deepen its strategic partnerships with major global powers.
