RIYADH: The Saudi Arabia national football team departed Riyadh on Monday for the United States to begin its preparations for the FIFA World Cup 2026 through an extensive overseas training camp.
The first phase of the camp will take place in New York City and continue until May 31, during which the Green Falcons are scheduled to face Ecuador national football team in an international friendly next Saturday, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Monday.
The second phase will be held in Austin until June 9, featuring additional warm-up matches against Puerto Rico national football team on June 5 and Senegal national football team on June 9.
Saudi Arabia will officially enter the tournament phase on June 10 and will use Austin as its base camp throughout the competition.
The team has been drawn into Group H alongside Spain, Uruguay, and Cabo Verde, setting up a highly competitive group-stage campaign.
The FIFA World Cup 2026 will be the largest edition in the tournament’s history, featuring 48 national teams and hosted jointly by the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The competition is expected to attract millions of fans worldwide and showcase some of the biggest talents in international football.
