DUBLIN, Ireland: West Indies women’s cricket team were crowned champions of the T20I tri-series without stepping onto the field on the final day, as relentless rain washed out the decisive fixture between Pakistan and hosts Ireland at Castle Avenue on Thursday, handing the Caribbean side the title on net run rate.

Although Pakistan were already out of contention following their own washout against West Indies a day earlier, Ireland entered the final match with a mathematical chance to snatch the trophy. All they needed was a victory to finish atop the standings on home soil. But persistent showers across Dublin ensured no ball was bowled, leaving Ireland stranded on 10 points from four matches – level with West Indies but behind on net run rate.
The abandonment brought a fittingly damp end to a tri-series that promised much but delivered little in its final stages. For Pakistan, the outcome confirmed a miserable campaign: winless in four matches, anchored to the bottom of the table with just four points.
Pakistan’s struggles ahead of World Cup
The Green Shirts opened their campaign with a 25-run defeat to eventual champions West Indies, followed by a seven-wicket loss to Ireland. Two washed-out fixtures – against West Indies and Ireland – offered no respite, leaving the side without a single victory to show for their efforts.
The result raises significant concerns for Pakistan as they now turn their attention to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, which runs from June 12 to July 5 in England.

What Lies Ahead for Pakistan
Following the disappointing tri-series, Pakistan will travel to England to fine-tune their preparations for the mega event. They are scheduled to play two warm-up matches:
- June 6:vs Sri Lanka in Derby
- June 9:vs Scotland in Derby
The Green Shirts are placed in Group 1 of the T20 World Cup and will launch their campaign on June 14 with a high-stakes clash against arch-rivals India at Edgbaston in Birmingham, a fixture that will demand a dramatic improvement from their Dublin displays.
Final Tri-Series Standings
| Team | Matches | Points | Result |
| West Indies | 4 | 10 | Champions (better NRR) |
| Ireland | 4 | 10 | Runners-up |
| Pakistan | 4 | 4 | Winless |
For West Indies, the trophy adds to growing momentum ahead of the World Cup. For Ireland, what might have been will linger. And for Pakistan, the countdown to June 14 has begun, with plenty of questions still unanswered.
