KARACHI: Quetta Gladiators delivered a commanding all-round performance to secure a convincing 61-run win over Rawalpindiz in the 18th match of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 11, played at the National Bank Stadium on Friday.
After posting a challenging total of 182 runs for the loss of six wickets, the Gladiators dismantled the opposition batting line-up, bowling out Rawalpindiz for just 121 runs in 17.3 overs.

Pindiz chase falls apart early
Chasing 183 for victory, Rawalpindiz never managed to build momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals. The entire batting order struggled against a disciplined Quetta bowling attack.
Emerging all-rounder Saad Masood fought a lone battle for his side, top-scoring with a brisk 19-ball 31. Middle-order batter Daryl Mitchell contributed a cautious 30 off 32 deliveries. Apart from the duo, only Yasir Khan (22) and Abdullah Fazal (20) managed to reach double figures.
No other batter could make a significant contribution as the Pindiz folded well short of the target.
Gladiators’ bowlers share the spoils
Quetta’s bowling unit delivered a collective performance with multiple bowlers making valuable contributions.
Usman Tariq, Jahandad Khan, and captain Saud Shakeel each claimed two wickets, dismantling the middle and lower order. Kashif Bhatti and Abrar Ahmed provided excellent support, taking one wicket apiece to ensure there was no comeback for Rawalpindiz.

Rossouw and Saud steady the ship after early jolt
Earlier in the day, Quetta Gladiators were asked to bat first, and their innings got off to a rocky start. Debutant opener Sam Harper fell for just eight runs on the first ball of the fourth over, leaving the score at 22 for 1.
However, skipper Saud Shakeel and Rilee Rossouw joined forces at the crease and carefully rebuilt the innings. The pair stitched together a crucial 87-run partnership for the second wicket, steering the team out of trouble.
Rossouw emerged as the top scorer for Quetta, smashing 53 runs off 42 balls, including six boundaries and one six. Saud played the anchor role perfectly, contributing a steady 42 off 39 deliveries with three fours.

Mubasir and Amir strike but Nawaz provides late fireworks
Rawalpindiz’s Mubasir Khan, brought into the lineup as a partial replacement for pace bowler Naseem Shah, broke the threatening partnership in the 15th over by removing Rossouw. In the very next over, Ben Sears sent Saud Shakeel back to the pavilion.
Veteran pacer Mohammad Amir then struck twice in quick succession, dismissing Khawaja Nafay and Bevon Jacobs in consecutive overs. At that stage, Quetta had slipped to 156 for 6 in 16.2 overs.
But just when Rawalpindiz sensed a comeback, middle-order batter Hasan Nawaz launched a fierce assault. Nawaz smashed 39 runs off only 16 deliveries, hitting five towering sixes before falling to Ben Sears in the final over.
Jahandad Khan provided excellent support during the death overs, remaining unbeaten on 21 from just six balls, which included two sixes and two fours.
For Rawalpindiz, Ben Sears was the most successful bowler, finishing with three wickets for 41 runs in his four overs. Mohammad Amir claimed two wickets, while Mubasir Khan took one.
