LAHORE: In one of the most stunning run chases in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history, Karachi Kings chased down a daunting target of 200 against Lahore Qalandars with eight balls to spare, thanks to a captain’s knock from David Warner, a blistering onslaught from Moeen Ali, and a jaw-dropping finish from Khushdil Shah at the Gaddafi Stadium on Thursday.

The five-wicket victory keeps Karachi’s playoff hopes alive while handing Lahore their first defeat after two consecutive wins.
Warner holds firm amidst early blows
Chasing 200, David Warner stood like a rock at one end. The Kings captain remained unbeaten on 63 off 44 balls, anchoring the innings with nine fours and a six.
His calm presence proved invaluable as wickets fell around him early. Jason Roy fell for 9, Reeza Hendricks for 10, and Salman Agha for 14, leaving Karachi at 69 for 3 in the ninth over.

But Warner never panicked, rotating strike expertly and keeping the required rate within reach.
Moeen Ali’s stunning assault
The arrival of Moeen Ali changed the complexion of the chase entirely. The English all-rounder launched a breathtaking onslaught, smashing 39 runs off just 17 deliveries, including one four and four massive sixes.
His 47-run partnership with Warner off only 23 balls brought Karachi back into the contest. Moeen fell in the 14th over, but the damage was done – the required rate had dropped below nine an over.

Khushdil Shah’s final over fireworks
Just when Lahore sensed a comeback, Khushdil Shah produced a finishing masterclass. Coming in at number six, the left-hander unleashed absolute carnage, scoring 44 runs off a mere 14 balls – a strike rate of 314.28.
His innings featured two fours and five towering sixes, including three consecutive maximums in the 18th over bowled by Haris Rauf that effectively sealed the match.

Khushdil and Warner added an unbeaten 57 runs for the sixth wicket off just 19 balls.
Lahore’s total proved insufficient
Earlier, Lahore Qalandars had posted 199 for 6, powered by fifties from Fakhar Zaman (61 off 41) and Abdullah Shafique (62 off 36). But their bowlers – including Shaheen Afridi (0 for 51) and Haris Rauf (1 for 36) – failed to defend the total.
Ubaid Shah was the pick of the Lahore bowlers with three wickets, but even his efforts could not stop the Karachi onslaught.
What the result means
For Karachi Kings, this is a victory that defied the odds. Chasing 200 – the highest successful chase of PSL 11 so far – keeps them mathematically alive in the playoff race.
For Lahore Qalandars, it is a crushing defeat after posting a formidable total, exposing vulnerabilities in their death bowling.
But the night belonged to Khushdil Shah, Moeen Ali, and David Warner, three heroes who turned a near-impossible chase into a memorable Karachi victory.
