ISLAMABAD: Pakistani high-altitude climber Sohail Sakhi, a native of Hunza, has successfully summited Kanchenjunga, the world’s third-highest mountain at 8,586 metres, bringing yet another proud moment for Pakistan’s mountaineering community.
Pakistani climber Sohail Sakhi from Hunza has successfully summited Kanchenjunga (8,586m), the world’s third-highest mountain, in Nepal as part of the rope fixing team. Sohail reached the summit on May 20 at 12:12 AM Nepali time.

Sohail reached the peak of the Nepali mountain at 12:12 AM local time on Wednesday, climbing as part of the rope-fixing team, a technically demanding and critical role in any high-altitude expedition. His achievement further strengthens Pakistan’s growing reputation in the global mountaineering arena.
