Pakistan, Turkiye Agree to Collaborate in Next-Generation Defence Technologies

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Turkiye have agreed to deepen defence ties by expanding collaboration in next-generation Defence Technologies, a military statement said on Friday.

This came during a meeting between Pakistan Chief of the Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu with Chief Technology Officer of Baykar Technologies Selcuk Bayraktar, military’s media wing Inter Service Public Relations (ISPR) said.

“The interaction focused on advancements in aerospace innovation, unmanned aerial systems and emerging technologies, reflecting the shared vision of both sides to pursue greater collaboration in next-generation defence technologies,” it said.

According to an ISPR statement at Turkish Air Force Headquarters, the PAF chief received a guard of honour and discussed enhancing interoperability through joint exercises, training programmes, and professional exchanges with Commander Turkish Air Force General Ziya Cemal Kadıoglu

Turkish Air Force Chief appreciated Pakistan Air Force’s support in training Turkish pilots.

Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, also held a meeting with Defence Minister of Turkiye, Yasar Guler, during which both sides reaffirmed the strong historical and strategic ties between Pakistan and Turkiye, while exploring deeper cooperation in training, capacity building, and aerospace collaboration.

The two sides reaffirmed the growing strategic convergence and shared commitment of both nations towards enhanced collaboration in defence, aerospace innovation and emerging technologies, ISPR said.

Pakistan and Turkiye share close and longstanding defence ties rooted in mutual trust, strategic cooperation and regular military engagement. Over the years, the two countries have expanded collaboration in defence production, military training, intelligence sharing and advanced defence technologies.

Turkiye has emerged as one of Pakistan’s key defence partners, with cooperation covering naval modernisation, drone technology, aerospace projects and joint military exercises. Both countries have also strengthened institutional coordination through high-level defence dialogues and agreements aimed at boosting indigenous defence capabilities.
