ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have killed 102 terrorists in counterterrorism operations across the southwestern province of Balochistan since 5 July, security officials said on Friday, as the military intensifies operations following terrorist attacks in the province this month.
Security officials said Operation Shaban, a joint operation involving the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC) Balochistan and police, alongside other intelligence-based operations, had resulted in the elimination of dozens of terrorists.
“Since 5 July, in Operation Shaban and other intelligence-based operations, a total of 102 terrorists have been neutralised,” the officials said.
They added that security forces had killed seven more terrorists during the latest operations, taking the total number of terrorists eliminated in Operation Shaban to 64.
According to the officials, terrorists hiding in rugged mountainous terrain were targeted through coordinated ground and aerial operations.
Security officials said Operation Shaban would continue across Balochistan until “the last terrorist is eliminated”, with ground and aerial operations continuing in areas where terrorists are believed to be hiding.

Attack on Police Station Repelled
Security officials also said forces thwarted an attack on a police station in the Zaidi area of Khuzdar early on Friday, killing eight terrorists during the exchange of fire.
According to the officials, reports also indicated that five to six additional terrorists were killed in subsequent operations.
Security Operations Intensified
Pakistan has for years been combating terrorist groups operating in Balochistan, including the banned Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), as well as terrorists linked to the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), both of which have been responsible for numerous attacks targeting civilians and security forces.
The latest operations come after a series of terrorist attacks in Balochistan prompted an intensified security response.
During a visit to Balochistan on Thursday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif blamed Pakistan’s “eastern neighbour”—a reference to India—for supporting terrorist attacks in the country.
Islamabad has repeatedly accused India of backing terrorist groups operating in Balochistan. Pakistan has also accused Afghanistan of allowing terrorist organisations to use its territory as a safe haven to launch attacks inside Pakistan.
