ISLAMABAD: Pakistan received $41.6 billion in workers’ remittances during fiscal year 2025-26, marking an 8.6 percent increase compared with $38.3 billion in the previous fiscal year, the State Bank of Pakistan said on Wednesday.

According to the State Bank, workers’ remittances stood at $3.5 billion in June 2026. The inflows increased by 2.0 percent on a year-on-year basis, though they declined by 18.3 percent compared with the previous month.

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif thanked overseas Pakistanis for sending higher remittances during FY2025-26, saying their contribution remained vital for Pakistan’s economy.

He said the 8.6 percent rise in remittances reflected the confidence of overseas Pakistanis in the government’s policies.

The prime minister described overseas Pakistanis as the country’s valuable asset and said the entire nation was proud of their patriotism and continued support for Pakistan.

He added that measures for the welfare of overseas Pakistanis were among the government’s top priorities.

Saudi Arabia remained the largest source of workers’ remittances in June 2026, with inflows of $829.6 million. The United Arab Emirates followed with $792.2 million, while remittances from the United Kingdom stood at $514.9 million.

Pakistan also received $296.8 million from the United States during the month.

Officials said the continued growth in remittances showed the strength of Pakistan’s overseas workforce and its strong connection with the country.

The increase is also seen as a positive development for Pakistan’s external account, foreign exchange inflows and overall economic stability.
