ISLAMABAD:  Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir, as the nation celebrates the Eid Al-Adha on Wednesday.

He emphasised that Pakistan stands firmly with oppressed communities around the world and reiterated the country’s commitment to advocating for their rights, dignity, and freedom on international platforms, he said in a post on X.

His message came as Muslims across Pakistan and many other parts of the world celebrate the festival of Eid Al-Adha, which pays homage to Prophet Ibrahim (peace be upon him), who was willing to sacrifice his son in obedience to the command of Allah.

The occasion was marked with special Eid prayers in mosques and open grounds nationwide, while families gathered to perform the ritual sacrifice of animals and share meat with relatives, friends, and underprivileged communities.

The prime minister also called upon the nation to remember those suffering from conflict, oppression, and humanitarian crises during this time of reflection and unity. He urged people to embody the true spirit of Eid by promoting compassion, generosity, and solidarity with those facing hardship.

Pakistan has consistently voiced strong diplomatic and moral support for the Palestinian people since Israel launched military operations in Gaza on October 7, 2023.

Pakistani leaders have repeatedly called for an immediate ceasefire, unhindered humanitarian assistance, and a peaceful resolution to the conflict in accordance with international law and United Nations resolutions.

According to international media reports, more than 900 people have been killed since a ceasefire between Hamas and Israel was reached in October last year, raising renewed concerns over the worsening humanitarian situation in the region.

“Let us remember the underprivileged around us, share the joys of Eid with those in need, and reaffirm our commitment to unity, brotherhood, and service to humanity,” Sharif said in his message.

“We also stand in unwavering solidarity with our oppressed brothers and sisters in Palestine and Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir.”

“Pakistan and Türkiye remain united in the fight against terrorism and in our shared pursuit of peace, stability, and prosperity.”
