ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday strongly condemned the bomb explosion near Chaman Phatak in Quetta, describing the attack as a heinous act of terrorism that claimed innocent lives and injured several others.

In a statement shared on X, the prime minister said such cowardly acts could not weaken the determination of the Pakistani nation to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.

“I strongly condemn the heinous bomb explosion near Chaman Phatak, Quetta, which has resulted in the tragic loss of innocent lives and left many others injured,” the premier stated.

The explosion targeted a passenger shuttle train near Chaman Phatak in Quetta, causing multiple casualties and damage to railway infrastructure. Authorities launched rescue and relief operations immediately after the blast, while security forces cordoned off the area.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif reaffirmed that Pakistan remained steadfast in its fight against terrorism and said the nation stood united against attempts to spread fear and instability.

“Such cowardly acts of terrorism cannot weaken the resolve of the people of Pakistan. We remain steadfast in our determination to eliminate terrorism in all its forms and manifestations,” he said.

The prime minister also expressed heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured in the attack.

“The entire nation stands in solidarity with the people of Balochistan in this hour of grief,” he added.

The attack comes amid continued counterterrorism operations in different parts of Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa targeting terrorist networks and anti-state elements.

Govt vows action

A special meeting chaired by Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti reviewed the security situation following the deadly explosion near Quetta’s Chaman Phatak area. The Inspector General of Balochistan Police presented an initial report on the attack.

The meeting strongly condemned the cowardly attack targeting innocent civilians and expressed condolences to the families of the martyrs. “The federal government stands with the Balochistan government in this difficult time,” Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said.

“By targeting innocent people, these beasts have displayed the worst kind of brutality,” Naqvi stated, adding that the sacrifices of the martyrs would always be remembered.

Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti vowed that terrorists linked to Fitna al-Hindustan would be taken to their “logical end” and said the government would not leave the families of the martyrs alone. He also said he was personally supervising the best possible medical treatment for those injured in the blast.
