ISLAMABAD: Pakistan will face the winner of Bangladesh vs Malaysia in the men’s cricket semi-final of the Asian Games 2026 on October 1, while defending champions India will take on the winner of Sri Lanka vs Nepal in the other last-four clash.
Pakistan and India secured their semi-final places without completing their quarter-final matches after persistent rain disrupted Monday’s action in Nagoya. Pakistan’s quarter-final against Hong Kong, China was abandoned, while India’s match against Afghanistan also ended without a result.

Under the tournament rules, Pakistan and India advanced because they entered the quarter-finals as the higher-seeded teams. The washouts therefore denied Hong Kong, China and Afghanistan an opportunity to challenge the two higher-ranked sides for a place in the semi-finals.

The remaining quarter-finals will determine the opponents for Pakistan and India. Sri Lanka will meet Nepal on September 29, while Bangladesh will face Malaysia later the same day.

Pakistan’s semi-final opponent will therefore be either Bangladesh or Malaysia, while India will meet either Sri Lanka or Nepal.
