LAHORE: Pakistan cricket team players and officials arrived in Lahore on Wednesday morning following their disappointing performance at the T20 World Cup 2024, where they failed to progress beyond the group stage.

The group, which included players Naseem Shah and Usman Khan, along with Senior Manager Wahab Riaz, landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport via a private airline from Florida, United States. However, several key players, including skipper Babar Azam, Haris Rauf, Imad Wasim, Azam Khan, and Mohammad Amir, were not among the returnees. Babar Azam is scheduled to return to Pakistan on June 22.

Following the conclusion of the World Cup, Head Coach Gary Kirsten is expected to return home, while Mohammad Amir plans to remain in the United States for a few more days before traveling to England to join Derbyshire County.

The T20 World Cup proved to be a challenging tournament for the ‘Green Shirts’. They were unable to advance to the Super 8 round after suffering surprising defeats, including one to the United States. In a match against India that initially appeared favorable for Pakistan, they ultimately conceded defeat, contributing to their early exit from the tournament.
