LAHORE: To ensure a peaceful atmosphere for the upcoming General Election 2024, Lahore Police has ramped up its intelligence-based search operations across the city. According to Lahore Police Chief, a total of 519 search operations have been conducted so far this year.
These extensive operations have seen the scrutiny of 14,584 houses, 6,854 tenants, and approximately 51,116 individuals. CCPO Lahore, Bilal Siddique Kamiana, emphasized that during these search operations, strict action has been taken against 97 individuals under the Tenancy Act.
Moreover, Lahore Police Chief reported that these operations have resulted in the arrest of 10 alleged criminals, with 20 cases registered pertaining to illegal possession of weapons. Additionally, 7 cases related to narcotics have been registered, leading to the detention of 11 individuals under sections 55/109 of the Criminal Code.
The focus of these operations extends to areas adjacent to educational institutions, markets, shops, and factories. CCPO Bilal Siddique Kamiana emphasized the importance of continuing these operations throughout the city, particularly in hot spot areas.
In adherence to Article 144, stringent measures have been put in place to enforce a ban on aerial firing, display of weapons, and the use of loudspeakers. Lahore Police Chief reiterated the commitment to maintaining peace during the election process and said to accelerate search operations in sensitive areas.
The overarching objective of these operations, as stated by Bilal Siddique Kamiana, is to suppress criminal elements and ensure a conducive environment for the electoral process. Lahore Police remains steadfast in its efforts to uphold law and order, safeguarding the democratic exercise ahead of the General Election 2024.
