OTTAWA: Senior Puisne Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan Justice Syed Mansoor Ali Shah has called on the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada Richard Wagner, in Ottawa and discussed judicial collaboration.
The two sides underscored the significance of continuous judicial training and education. They also agreed to initiate exchange programs for judges and judicial officers, aimed at sharing knowledge and expertise in areas such as development of curriculum modules, case management, digitalization of courts, and alternative dispute resolution procedures.
They recognized the increasing role of technology in the judiciary. The two sides explored the potential for collaboration between National Judicial Institute of Canada and the Federal Judicial Academy of Pakistan in developing and implementing advanced judicial technologies, including virtual courtrooms, electronic filing systems, and AI-driven legal research tools.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Canada Zaheer A Janjua said this meeting signifies a new chapter in Pakistan and Canada judicial relationship. By working together, Pakistan and Canada can enhance the efficiency and fairness of their judicial systems for the benefit of their peoples, he said.
