Karachi: A clinical bowling performance by three-time title winners Islamabad United restricted Hyderabad Kingsmen to a meager total of 80 in the crucial 36th fixture of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) 11, at the National Bank Stadium on Friday.

Batting collapse
The Kingsmen’s innings never gained momentum as they lost opener Maaz Sadaqat on the very first ball of the match, caught behind off Richard Gleeson for a golden duck. Captain Marnus Labuschagne followed shortly for 5, and Saim Ayub’s 12-run knock ended as the third wicket at just 24.

Usman Khan remained the lone warrior, carrying his bat for an unbeaten 25 off 35 balls, but found no support from the other end. Kusal Perera (12), Glenn Maxwell (1), and Irfan Khan (9) all failed to convert starts. The lower order offered little resistance, with Hassan Khan falling for a duck and Mohammad Ali trapped lbw for 0 to end the innings at 80.

Bowling heroes
Islamabad United’s bowlers shared the spoils brilliantly. Richard Gleeson struck thrice early, removing Sadaqat, Labuschagne, and Ayub to return figures of 3 for 9 in his 3 overs. Captain Shadab Khan then spun a web, claiming 3 for 13, including the key wickets of Perera, Irfan Khan, and Hassan Khan. Veteran left-armer Imad Wasim also picked up 3 wickets for 21, cleaning up the tail.
Salman Mirza chipped in with one wicket, while Faheem Ashraf and Chris Green bowled economical spells without success.

Match situation
With just 81 runs needed for victory, Islamabad United are overwhelming favourites to win and secure their playoff spot. The Kingsmen, who entered the match on a four-match winning streak, now face elimination unless they produce a miraculous bowling performance in the second innings.
