CAIRO: Muslim nations and regional organisations have strongly condemned Houthi attacks targeting two airports in Saudi Arabia, which killed three people and injured dozens, calling the strikes a grave violation of Saudi sovereignty and a direct threat to regional security.
According to the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA), Abha International Airport and King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh were targeted in two separate attacks on October 6 and 7, 2026, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
At Abha International Airport, the blatant attack resulted in two fatalities, a Moroccan and an Algerian female resident, as well as 28 injuries ranging from minor to serious among Saudi citizens, a Bangladeshi resident, and a Filipino resident, GACA stated.
At King Khalid International Airport, the attack resulted in one fatality, a resident of Sudanese nationality, as well as eight injuries ranging from minor to critical among five Saudi citizens, two Egyptian residents, and a Pakistani resident, according to GACA.

Arab League
The Arab League, in a statement, said that targeting civil aviation facilities and endangering the lives of passengers and workers constitutes a highly dangerous escalation, a blatant violation of the Kingdom’s sovereignty, and a clear breach of international law and the UN Charter.
It warned of the danger of the continued attacks, their widening scope, and the repeated targeting of civilian and vital facilities, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Thursday.

The Arab League reaffirmed its full solidarity with the Kingdom and support for Saudi Arabia in confronting any attacks targeting its security, stability and sovereignty, as well as the safety of its citizens and residents. It stressed that Saudi Arabia’s security is an integral part of Arab national security.
The Arab League also extended its sincere condolences to the families of the victims and wished the injured a speedy recovery, while calling for an immediate halt to the attacks and urging restraint to prevent further escalation that could threaten regional security and stability.
Qatar
Qatar condemned the attacks, and in a statement from its foreign affairs ministry, said the Houthis’ actions were a “grave violation of Saudi sovereignty and a direct threat to regional security, the safety of civilians, civil facilities, and air navigation.”
Doha stands by Saudi Arabia’s side “in all legitimate measures it takes to preserve its sovereignty, security, safety of its territories and interests,” the statement added. It reiterated that “Saudi security is an integral part of Qatar’s security and the collective security system of the Gulf Cooperation Council states for the Arab Gulf countries.”
United Arab Emirates
The United Arab Emirates foreign ministry said the attacks constituted a “flagrant violation of the sovereignty” of Saudi Arabia and “a threat to its security and stability.”
The ministry, in a statement, reaffirmed the “UAE’s full solidarity with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and its support for all measures aimed at safeguarding its security and stability.”

Kuwait’s foreign affairs ministry, in a statement, declared the country’s “categorical rejection of the recurrence of these cowardly attacks that target innocent civilians and civilian and economic facilities, affirming the necessity of halting them immediately.”
“The Ministry stresses that the security of the Kingdom is an inseparable part of the security of the State of Kuwait and the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States,” the statement read.
Bahrain
Bahrain’s Foreign Ministry said targeting airports and civilian facilities and endangering the lives of travelers and workers constituted a criminal act and a blatant violation of international law.
It said Saudi Arabia’s security was integral to Bahrain’s security and that of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

Jordan
Jordan described the attacks as a blatant violation of Saudi sovereignty and a threat to its security and stability, as well as a breach of international law and the UN Charter.
Jordanian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Fuad Al-Majali affirmed his country’s solidarity with Saudi Arabia and support for measures taken by the Kingdom to protect its security.

Syria
Syria also condemned the attacks and expressed full solidarity with Saudi Arabia.
The Syrian Foreign Ministry said Damascus supported the Kingdom in confronting threats to its security, territorial integrity and civilian facilities, while wishing those injured a speedy recovery.

“Targeting airports and civilian facilities” was a violation of international law and principles protecting civilians and civilian objects, the ministry said, adding that such attacks threatened the safety of civil aviation.
Egypt
Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Egyptians Abroad called for an end to the Houthi attacks and for efforts to protect regional security and stability.
“Egypt affirms that the escalation and attacks on the Kingdom’s territory, and the threat they pose to its security and stability, represent a destabilisation of the security and stability of the entire region,” the ministry said in a statement.

Gulf Cooperation Council
Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jassim Al-Budaiwi strongly condemned what he described as Houthi “terrorist attacks” targeting Abha and King Khalid airports.
He called the attacks a “serious escalation” and a flagrant violation of international laws and norms.

Muslim World League
The Muslim World League condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, including targeting Abha and King Khalid airports
In a statement issued by its General Secretariat, MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Organisation of Muslim Scholars Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa described the attacks as acts of terrorism that violate religious values, international law and humanitarian principles.

The General Secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers Council also condemned the attacks, denouncing Houthis’ continued and repeated targeting of civilians and civilian property in Saudi Arabia.
