ISLAMABAD: Following recent increases in petrol and electricity prices, the caretaker government has delivered another blow to the public by raising the rates of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG) by Rs39 per kg. This hike has left many concerned, particularly those with limited financial means, as it adds to the economic challenges faced by ordinary citizens.

After the latest adjustment, the price of LPG has been set at Rs240 per kg, as per a notification issued by the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA). The impact on consumers is most noticeable in the cost of the 11.8 kg domestic cylinder, which has seen an increase of Rs459.85. Consequently, the new price for the LPG domestic cylinder stands at Rs 2833.49.

This move follows a previous increase in LPG prices of Rs23 per kilogram for the month of August 2023, contributing to the financial strain experienced by many households.

Government Increases Petrol Price

Additionally, the caretaker government has taken further steps to tighten the financial squeeze on the populace. On Friday, it raised the prices of petrol and diesel by more than Rs14 per litre. As a result, petrol now costs Rs305.36 per litre, having risen by Rs14.91 per litre, while diesel is available at Rs311.84 per litre following an increase of Rs18.44 per litre.

These successive price hikes across various essential commodities and services have exacerbated the financial burdens facing the public, raising concerns about the impact on the cost of living for ordinary citizens.
