RIYADH: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi has strongly condemned the Houthi attack on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, which caused casualties.
He stressed that targeting civilian airports and passengers requires urgent international action and decisive measures to prevent further attacks, describing such acts as clear violations of humanitarian principles and international conventions, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Friday.

The secretary-general reaffirmed that the security of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is part of GCC collective security, underscoring the council’s absolute solidarity and full backing for all measures taken by the Kingdom to safeguard its citizens, residents, critical infrastructure, and territorial integrity.
Albudaiwi extended his sincere condolences to the families of the victims, wishing the injured a swift recovery.
Two attacks target Saudia aircraft
Earlier, the General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) announced that on October 8, 2026, King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh was targeted by two attacks.
The first attack targeted the airport’s facilities, while the second targeted a Saudia aircraft. Emergency response teams and the relevant authorities responded immediately in accordance with established protocols and the applicable emergency response plans.

The attacks resulted in the martyrdom of three Saudi citizens and injuries to a number of Saudi citizens and residents of various nationalities, ranging from minor to critical. All injured individuals were transported immediately to hospital for appropriate medical care. The attacks also caused some property damage.
GACA continues to work, in coordination with the relevant authorities, to complete the damage assessment, verify the safety of the facilities, and take the necessary measures to ensure the safety of passengers and personnel and maintain the security and safety of the Kingdom’s civil aviation system.
GACA also confirms that airport operations have resumed and air traffic has returned to normal.
MWL Condemns repeated Houthi attack on Saudi Arabia
Meanwhile, the Muslim World League (MWL) has strongly condemned the continued Houthi attacks against the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, particularly the targeting of King Khalid International Airport and a Saudia aircraft, which resulted in the martyrdom of three Saudi citizens and the injury of several citizens and residents of various nationalities.

In a statement issued by MWL, Secretary-General Sheikh Dr. Mohammed Al-Issa denounced the treacherous attacks, emphasising that deliberate strikes on civilians and civilian infrastructure flagrantly violate religious principles, international conventions, and humanitarian law, the Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported.
