French President to Visit China in April in Effort to End Ukraine War

PARIS: In an effort to resolve the Ukraine crisis, French President Emmanuel Macron has said that he would embark on a visit to China in early April and asked Beijing to “help pressure Russia” to end the Ukraine war.

Speaking on Saturday after China urged for urgent peace talks as it released its peace plan to end the Ukraine war, Macron said peace was only possible if “Russia’s aggression was stopped, troops withdrawn and territorial sovereignty of Ukraine and its people was respected.”

French president urges Erdogan to force Russia stop invasion

Emmanuel Macron on Friday urged Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan to “fight” Russian evasion of Ukraine via Turkiye of Western and the US sanctions imposed over the Ukraine war.

Macron underlined the concern of fighting any escape from the sanctions in place after his telephonic conversation with Tayyip Erdogan on the first anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Macron added that “isolation of and pressure on Russia must be increased” to force Russia to “give up” on its attack, the French presidency said.
