RIYADH: Yemen’s internationally recognised government forces said four Iranian drone experts were killed when it carried out 756 operations against Houthi military positions and capabilities across several fronts over 72 hours, the army’s official spokesman said.
Col. Majid Abdullah Al-Nuzaili said the operations targeted Houthi positions, personnel and military capabilities using aircraft, drones, missiles, field artillery and rocket launchers.
The operations covered the Kataf and Al-Baqa, Alab, Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda, Lahj and Taiz fronts, according to a statement by the Yemeni Armed Forces spokesman.
Al-Nuzaili said the operations killed or wounded 2,316 Houthi members and destroyed or damaged troop carriers, vehicles, military reinforcements, missile-launch platforms, weapons depots and other military equipment.
He also said four Iranian experts specialising in operating and launching drones and missiles were killed in Taiz Governorate, describing their presence as evidence of continued Iranian military support and expertise for the Houthis.
The military statement also said the Houthis were misrepresenting attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure by attributing them to government forces.
Houthi attack killed civilians
Al-Nuzaili cited a September 23 attack on the Amr bin Al-As School in Lahj Governorate, saying Houthi forces had targeted the school and the Ras Al-Arah area, killing three civilians and injuring four others.
Local reporting on the incident gave a different toll, with South24 reporting four civilians killed and eight injured after Houthi forces fired ballistic missiles at areas in Al-Mudaribah and Ras Al-Arah.
The report said the school was sheltering displaced families and was among the sites hit.

The Yemeni army also stated that the Houthis were planting mines on roads and streets in Lahj, saying the devices endangered civilians and disrupted movement.
The Yemeni army’s statement followed renewed fighting on several Yemeni fronts after a period of relative calm. The escalation has included competing accusations over attacks on civilian areas and military targets, with both sides disputing responsibility for some incidents.
Yemen has remained divided since the Houthis seized Sanaa and large parts of the north and west of the country.
The internationally recognised government and the Houthi movement continue to control different areas, while diplomatic efforts to end the conflict have repeatedly stalled.
