ISLAMABAD: The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has strongly condemned the political, religious, and cultural aggression by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government against the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
In a statement issued in Srinagar, APHC spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas stressed the importance of unity within the organization to counter the BJP’s anti-Kashmir and anti-peace agenda.
Minhas noted that the BJP’s hostile policy towards Kashmir is fueled by racial bias, Hindutva ideology, and its goal to establish a Hindu Rashtra. He urged members of the organization to unite and resist India’s evil design to erase the political, cultural, and religious identity of the Kashmiri people.
The Indian government not only seeks to erase the Kashmiri identity but also suppresses political activities and silences the voices of the oppressed. Harassment against religious scholars, civil society, journalists, academics, and human rights defenders continues unabated.
Minhas also criticized the recent visits of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah to the territory, labeling them as a cruel joke played on the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He accused the BJP government of misleading the world about the real situation in IIOJK.
The spokesperson reiterated that the Kashmiri people only seek a peaceful and just resolution to the long-standing Kashmir dispute. He emphasized that the unresolved dispute poses a grave threat to peace and stability in the South Asia.
