KEY POINTS

  • Pacer Ali Raza’s four-wicket haul dismantled Scotland’s top order.
  • Fighting 50-run partnership from Scotland’s lower order was curtailed by Raza’s return.
  • Pakistan’s disciplined bowling attack shared wickets to bowl Scotland out in 48.1 overs.

HARARE, Zimbabwe: Pakistan’s bowling unit delivered a disciplined and penetrating performance to dismiss Scotland for 187 during their ICC Men’s U19 World Cup 2026 group stage encounter at Takashinga Sports Club, Highfield.

Asked to bat first, Scotland’s innings never found a stable footing against a persistent Pakistani attack led by pacer Ali Raza.

Early strikes set dominant tone

The Scottish innings was rocked from the outset as Ali Raza produced a devastating opening over.

He sent back opener Theo Robinson (4) off his second ball and then removed the other opener, Max Chaplin (2), to leave Scotland reeling at 6-2.

Knight holds fort amidst collapse

Captain Thomas Knight (37 off 72) and Rory Grant (21 off 45) staged a recovery, taking the score past 50.

However, the introduction of off-spinner Momin Qamar broke the stand, trapping Grant LBW. Qamar struck again soon after to remove Finlay Carter (12).

A rebuilding effort between Knight and Ollie Jones (30 off 35) carried Scotland past 100, but Ali Raza’s return shattered the partnership, clean bowling Jones.

The very next over, Qamar claimed the crucial wicket of skipper Knight, leaving Scotland in deep trouble at 115-6 in the 29th over.

Fighting partnership briefly revives hopes

A defiant 50-run seventh-wicket stand between Manu Saraswat (25 off 36) and Finlay Jones (33 off 56) offered Scotland a path to a competitive total.

Jones struck two sixes in his gritty knock.

The resistance was finally broken by the returning Ali Raza, who had Finlay Jones caught for his fourth wicket. Mohammad Sayyam then removed Saraswat, and the innings tailed out quickly.

Jake Woodhouse (2) was the last man out, bowled by Abdul Subhan.

Bowling figures tell the story

Ali Raza was the standout performer for Pakistan, finishing with excellent figures of 4 for 37 in his 10 overs.

Momin Qamar provided vital support with 3 wickets, while Mohammad Sayyam and Abdul Subhan claimed one scalp each.

Scotland’s total of 187 sets Pakistan a modest target to chase in their pursuit of a victory in the tournament.
