KABUL, Afghanistan: The Afghanistan Freedom Front (AFF) has said that its forces killed 37 Taliban fighters and wounded 24 others during clashes in Kamdesh district of Nuristan and Nari district of Kunar.
In a statement issued at the weekend, the opposition group said fighting began on Saturday morning after its forces launched attacks on Taliban positions in the two eastern provinces.
Gains in eastern Afghanistan
The Afghanistan Freedom Front said its fighters had taken control of several villages in Kamdesh and Nari districts following coordinated operations against Taliban positions.
The group said its forces cleared several checkpoints, seized weapons and pushed back Taliban fighters after inflicting casualties.

AFF also said its commandos maintained defensive positions in areas they had taken, while temporarily withdrawing from some vulnerable checkpoints.
AFF said the fighting involved mainly local young fighters familiar with the terrain and operational areas.
The group stated that its forces remained committed to opposing Taliban rule and said its actions were aimed at protecting what it described as the rights and dignity of Afghan people while respecting international laws of war.
Multidimensional campaign
Resistance forces have announced continuation of their multidimensional campaign against the Taliban regime, demonstrating that opposition remains active across geographically separated areas.
The Taliban’s coercive measures have failed to eliminate opposition, while repeated attacks expose vulnerabilities within its intelligence, military and enforcement machinery.
Nevertheless, the spread of resistance across five provinces in three days directly challenges the Taliban regime’s narrative of stability and uncontested authority.
Five years after the Taliban returned to power, the emergence of multiple armed fronts, particularly in provinces as far apart as Badakhshan, Kapisa, Helmand and Zabul, suggests that the regime continues to face an active internal opposition despite its control over the state apparatus.
