EDINBURGH: Actor Robbie Coltrane has died at age of 72, British media reported on Friday. The actor played the character of Hagrid in the Harry Potter films. His agent told British media, “Robbie will probably be best remembered for decades to come as Hagrid…a role which brought joy to children and adults alike, prompting a stream of fan letters every week for over 20 years.”
It may be recalled that Coltrane was born Anthony Robert McMillan on March 30, 1950, in Glasgow, Scotland. He continued his studies in art at Moray House College of Education in Edinburgh after graduating from Glasgow Art School.
