SHUJAABAD: Maryam Nawaz, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz senior vice president, on Sunday, termed Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief ‘mastermind’ of 9 May arson attacks, saying that the former prime minister was now begging for meetings and talks.

Addressing the PML-N workers’ convention in Shujaabad, she lambasted the PTI chairman for ‘inciting people’ to attack state institutions, asking did PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif ever asked his supporters to set fire on state buildings when he was ousted.

Maryam said that Nawaz Sharif bravely fought oppression but never encouraged and supported chaos. She hoped that Nawaz Sharif will once again rise to power in a democratic way.

She said that the person (Nawaz Sharif) who builds hospitals, metros, and schools could never incite people to ‘harm the country’. A person’s lust for power had damaged Pakistan and state institutions, she added while pointing towards Imran Khan.

Violent clashes broke out across the country after Imran Khan was arrested by the Islamabad High Court in the Al-Qadir trust case.
