KPT, Abu Dhabi Ports Group Ink MoU to Develop Karachi Port

KARACHI: The Abu Dhabi Ports Group and Karachi Port Trust on Thursday signed an agreement to drive sustainable growth, advance trade diversification, and strengthen bilateral relations between the UAE and Pakistan.

The AD Ports Group has taken an important step towards strengthening regional connectivity and fostering economic development in Pakistan by inking a Memorandum of Understanding with the KPT, a KPT spokesman said.

A high-level delegation from the United Arab Emirates visited Karachi and met Maritime Affairs Minister Faisal Sabzwari. The delegation was led by Managing Director and CEO of AD Ports Group Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, along with other senior officials.

Group a UAE state-owned entity

The Group is a UAE state-owned entity and the leading logistics and maritime provider from the Middle East. The MoU inking paved the way for increasing bilateral cooperation and boosting efforts in expanding, developing, and digitalizing port projects in Pakistan.

It represented a shared vision to drive sustainable development, advance trade diversification, and consolidate bilateral relations between the UAE and Pakistan. The collaboration encompasses a wide range of projects and initiatives to develop port infrastructure, embrace digitalization, and optimize operational efficiencies.

The Group would also attract foreign direct investment (FDI) and leverage its technical skills to conduct feasibility studies and analysis to ensure the commercial success of the project. –APP
