ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday directed to establish passport counters at the National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) centres across the country to facilitate the citizens.
The prime minister asked the NADRA and the Directorate General of Immigration and Passports to mobilise their resources for a collaborative venture. Chairing a meeting on easy access to passports and computerised national identity cards, he said that the step would facilitate the public and reduce the burden on the national exchequer.
Sharif said that all the previously approved new passport offices would be established as counters at all NADRA centres.He also issued directives to increase the number of mobile vans by NADRA to provide doorstep services to applicants seeking CNICs. The meeting was told that the NADRA was set to start a new mobile phone application for people seeking CNICs.
Finance Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah, Federal Education Minister Rana Tanvir Hussain, Chairman NADRA, the Director General Immigration and Passports and other officials attented the meeting. APP
