ISLAMABAD: Kazakh Ambassador Yerzhan Kistafin said on Wednesday that Kazakhstan is starting direct flights between Almaty and Lahore from April, and Almaty and Karachi from May this year to help boost business-to-business, and people-to-people relations between the two countries.

Addressing the business community here in Islamabad, the ambassador said that President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev will visit Pakistan this year, which will open a new chapter of trade and economic ties between the two countries.

He said that twenty MoUs would be signed during the visit of Kazakhstan’s president to further expand the cooperation between the two brotherly countries in multiple fields.

He also extended an invitation to Pakistani businessmen to visit Kazakhstan and participate in the inauguration of a direct flight ceremony.

The ambassador said that Kazakhstan intends to ink a transit trade agreement and a deal between the banking sectors of both countries that would provide a legal framework to their business communities for trade promotion.

Kazakhstan a gateway for Pakistan

He added that Kazakhstan provides Pakistan with easy access to Central Asian and Eurasian markets and Pakistan should take advantage of this potential.
