PM Directs to Meet Rs30b Youth Loan Target by June

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Thursday directed the authorities concerned to make all-out efforts to achieve the loan target of Rs30 billion under the Prime Minister Youth Loan Scheme by June 30.

The prime minister who chaired a review meeting on the PM Youth Loan Scheme instructed to resolve all operational issues regarding the loan scheme on priority.

The prime minister said that the government was taking unprecedented steps to promote entrepreneurship and employment among youth. Besides, the provision of easy loans to youth was also ensured.

He said the youth were an asset to Pakistan, and the country’s progress was linked with their welfare.

Committee set up to examine youth loan scheme performance

The prime minister also set up a steering committee under him to examine the performance and pace of the youth loan scheme. The finance minister will also be part of the committee.

He further said that the Pakistani youths were rich with immense potential with high morale, and if provided with enough resources, they could change the fate of Pakistan.

He said that the collaboration between the public and private sectors was vital to cope with the current challenges.

The meeting was informed that starting from 2013, around 54,000 youths had been extended loan facilities worth Rs73.55 billion. A portal for the youth loan scheme was also launched on 24 January 2023.

Under the scheme, people from eighteen to 45 years of age can get easy loans within 45 days. A 25% quota has been allocated for women.
