“I think they inspire happiness,” says Zoo Atlanta visitor Rachel Totts as giant pandas Ping Ping and Fu Shuang make their public debut while on loan from China. Six-year-old male Ping Ping and female Fu Shuang, both born at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding in China, arrived in Atlanta in September under a 10-year conservation agreement with China. The pair are settling into a newly renovated habitat, marking the return of giant pandas to the zoo after its previous pandas were sent back to China in 2024.
