Occupied West Bank: The Israeli Army continued its siege of Hebron in the southern occupied West Bank for a second consecutive day on Saturday, forcing dozens of Palestinians to leave their homes, according to Palestinian media.

The official Palestinian news agency Wafa reported that Israeli forces raided the al-Jilda and Deir Bahha areas in central Hebron and imposed a complete siege on the neighbourhoods.

According to Wafa, soldiers forced dozens of residents out of their homes and made them stand outdoors in the early hours of the morning.

The operation involved the deployment of additional military vehicles and bulldozers, the closure of main entrances and roads leading to Hebron, and the isolation of the city from surrounding areas, the agency reported.

Israeli forces also raided and searched homes, detaining dozens of residents and subjecting them to field interrogations before releasing them on Saturday morning, Wafa said.

Israeli forces detain 19 Palestinians

Separately, Israeli forces detained 19 Palestinians during raids across the occupied West Bank. Those arrested included two Palestinians from the Hindaza area and al-Azza refugee camp in Bethlehem governorate, 16 from Nablus governorate and a young man from Aqabat Jabr refugee camp in Jericho.

The occupied West Bank, including occupied East Jerusalem, has witnessed a sharp escalation in Israeli military operations and violence by Israeli occupiers since Israel launched its war on Gaza in October 2023.

The violence has included the killing and arrest of Palestinians, the demolition of homes and other structures, the burning of mosques and vehicles, and the destruction of agricultural land.

Israeli forces have also imposed restrictions on farmers’ access to their fields, displaced Palestinian communities and expanded illegal settlements across the occupied territory.
