ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s rising all-rounder Arafat Minhas has entered the record books after becoming only the seventh player in men’s One Day International (ODI) cricket to score at least 50 runs and take six or more wickets in the same match.

The 21-year-old delivered a memorable all-round performance against England in Rawalpindi on October 20, scoring 59 off 58 balls before claiming six wickets for 40 runs in 8.4 overs to help Pakistan secure an 87-run victory in the ODI tri-series.

His contribution proved decisive as Pakistan recovered from early batting setbacks to post 302-9 in 50 overs. England, despite a promising start, were bowled out for 215 in 38.4 overs, with Minhas dismantling their batting line-up through his left-arm spin.

The exclusive list features seven players who have combined a half-century with a haul of at least six wickets in a single men’s ODI:

  • Scott Styris (New Zealand): Scored 63 not out and claimed 6-25 against the West Indies in 2002.

Minhas becomes third Pakistani after Afridi and Razzaq

Minhas’s performance also placed him among a select group of Pakistani cricketers who have scored at least 50 runs and taken five or more wickets in the same ODI.

  • Shahid Afridi: Achieved the feat three times, against England in 2000, Sri Lanka in 2011 and the West Indies in 2013.
  • Abdul Razzaq: Scored 70 runs and took 5-48 against India in 2000.
  • Arafat Minhas: Scored 59 runs and claimed 6-40 against England in 2026.

Afridi remains the only Pakistani to have achieved the broader half-century and five-wicket double three times in men’s ODIs.
