ISLAMABAD: Saudi Arabia’s air defences intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis towards the kingdom, according to separate statements issued by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).
Coalition spokesman Major General Turki Al-Maliki said in a statement that a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis towards Khamis Mushait was intercepted and destroyed.
He said Sana’a, Saada and Amran were the sources of Houthi missile threats, adding that the coalition continued to neutralise ballistic and surface-to-surface missile threats and target their sources.

In a separate statement, Al-Maliki said another ballistic missile launched by the Houthis was intercepted and destroyed north of Riyadh.
He said coalition intelligence systems were tracking the launch platform in Sana’a and that the coalition would destroy it.
Saudi Arabia on Tuesday strongly condemned continued Houthi attacks targeting civilians and economic infrastructure in the Kingdom, as well as repeated attacks on Makkah, Madinah, Riyadh and other Saudi cities.
The Foreign Ministry, in a statement on Monday, also denounced attacks on Saudi vessels in the southern Red Sea and Bab Al-Mandeb Strait.
“The Kingdom affirms that since the Houthis coup against the legitimate Yemeni government in 2014, it has exerted diligent and continuous efforts to support efforts to reach a comprehensive and sustainable political solution in Yemen,” the ministry said.
“However, the Houthis have chosen to escalate their military operations, dragging Yemen and its brotherly people into further humanitarian and economic suffering in service of foreign agendas,” it added.
Saudi Arabia reiterated its inherent right to defend its territory, assets, sovereignty, and the safety of its citizens and residents, and to take all necessary measures to protect its security in accordance with international law.
It also reaffirmed its full political and military support for the Presidential Leadership Council, the Yemeni government, and the brotherly Yemeni people in their efforts to end the coup and restore the state and its institutions from the Houthis.
