Key Points

  • Resigning members reject the October 4 protest call entirely.
  • Activists pledge full support for state law, order, and stability.
  • Youth advised to avoid banned groups and incendiary actions.

ISLAMABAD: In a significant setback for the proscribed Jammu Kashmir Joint Awami Action Committee (JAAC), eight key members publicly announced their permanent disassociation from the group during a press conference at the District Press Club in Hattian Bala.

The members ending their affiliation include Raja Abdul Qadir, Waqar Anjum Yousafzai, Waheed Kiyani, Raja Jaleel, Yasir Siddique Kiyani, Shahid Hamid Abbasi, Jamshed Kiyani, and Raja Naseem Kiyani.

Rejecting unrest and strikes

Addressing media-persons, the former activists appealed directly to local traders, the public, and youth to reject the protest call scheduled for October 4 and abstain from joining any street demonstrations.

The JAAC had previously spearheaded region-wide violent movements, shutter-down strikes, and road blockades across AJK over electricity tariffs and flour subsidies.

However, the defecting members emphasised the importance of staying away from banned outfits and avoiding incendiary activities that disrupt civic life.

They reaffirmed their commitment to peace, stability, and the constitutional state order. They expressed full solidarity with Pakistan and the Armed Forces of Pakistan.

The press conference concluded with a direct message to local youth, encouraging them to focus on constructive development and avoid falling prey to provocative agendas. With civic normalisation taking priority across AJK districts, the sudden exit of these key organisers in Hattian Bala significantly weakens the JAAC’s operational setup ahead of its planned campaign.
