The 24-year-old fast-bowling all-rounder will be available for Perth’s first eight matches, with the possibility of extending her stint if she receives permission to miss a training camp ahead of Pakistan’s expected tour of the West Indies in December.
Fatima Sana set for WBBL debut
Sana will become only the second Pakistani woman cricketer to feature in the WBBL, following Nida Dar, who represented Sydney Thunder in 11 matches during the 2019 edition.
“I’ve watched the WBBL from Pakistan and always wondered what it would feel like to be part of this great competition,” Sana said in a statement issued by the Scorchers.
“To now wear the Scorchers colours, represent such a great club and walk out at the WACA Ground in front of members and fans, while being cheered on by people back home, is incredibly special. This really is a dream come true,” she added.
The WBBL move will be Sana’s second overseas T20 league appearance in 2026. Earlier this year, she became the first Pakistani woman to play in The Hundred after being selected by Birmingham Phoenix as a replacement for Australia’s Lucy Hamilton.
Sana has also featured in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League and New Zealand’s Women’s Super Smash, in 2022 and 2023 respectively.

Impressive 2026 record
Sana has enjoyed a prolific year with both bat and ball. She has taken 31 wickets in 20 innings at an economy rate of 7.35 and scored 540 runs at a strike rate of 149.58, making her Pakistan’s leading wicket-taker and run-scorer in women’s cricket in 2026.
She has captained Pakistan since the 2024 Women’s T20 World Cup and was the leading wicket-taker among fast bowlers at this year’s Women’s T20 World Cup, claiming 11 wickets at an economy rate of 6.95.
