NAGOYA, Japan: Pakistan will face arch-rivals India in the men’s hockey semi-final of the Asian Games 2026 on October 1 after the Green Shirts secured a convincing 7-2 victory over Oman in their final Pool B match on Monday.
Rana Waheed Ashraf scored a hat-trick as Pakistan produced a dominant attacking display at the Kawasaki Juko Stadium to finish second in Pool B with 12 points from five matches. The result confirmed Pakistan’s place in the knockout stage and set up a high-profile semi-final against India.

India also completed their pool campaign on Monday with a commanding 10-0 victory over Bangladesh, finishing top of Pool A with five wins from five matches. Hockey India confirmed that India will meet Pakistan in the semi-final on October 1, while Malaysia will face South Korea in the other last-four clash.
Pakistan overcome Oman in style
Pakistan started cautiously against Oman, with neither side finding the net in the opening quarter.
Sufyan Khan finally broke the deadlock in the 22nd minute by converting a penalty corner. Oman responded through Al Baraa Al Nofli six minutes later, but Sufyan immediately restored Pakistan’s lead in the same minute to give the Green Shirts a 2-1 advantage at halftime.

Pakistan then took complete control in the third quarter. Ashraf scored twice, while Ghazanfar Ali added another goal as Pakistan extended their lead to 5-2 despite Aiman Madit finding the net for Oman.
Muhammad Ammad added Pakistan’s sixth goal with a field strike in the 46th minute before Ashraf completed his hat-trick by converting a penalty corner in the penultimate minute to seal the 7-2 victory.
The result capped a strong pool-stage campaign for Pakistan, who opened their tournament with a 9-0 win over Thailand before defeating Uzbekistan 5-1 and China 3-0. Their only defeat came against Malaysia, who topped Pool B.

India await Pakistan in blockbuster semi-final
India entered the semi-final after an unbeaten Pool A campaign that included wins over Indonesia, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Japan and Bangladesh. Their 10-0 victory over Bangladesh on Monday included a hat-trick from captain Harmanpreet Singh.

The Pakistan-India semi-final is scheduled for October 1 at the Kawasaki Juko Stadium in Japan. The official tournament schedule lists the match as the first men’s hockey semi-final, with the second semi-final between Malaysia and South Korea.
The men’s hockey gold-medal match is scheduled for October 3, with the Asian Games title also carrying significance for qualification to the 2028 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
